In recent years, AI's role in creative fields has shifted from being a tool to a co-creator. While much HCI research explores human-AI interaction, most studies are digital and theoretical, overlooking practical co-creation experiences in design. This studio-based study investigates co-creation with ChatGPT-3.5 from a first-person perspective, focusing on how AI role-switching occurs through natural language communication. Findings revealed that AI’s dynamic roles exceeded current literature, with richer co-creation patterns emerging. A co-creation protocol and role-mapping were developed to guide designers working with AI in soft wearables, bridging digital and physical design practices.
